Exterra – Effecitve Solution For Termite Elimination

Among different methods for termite elimination, Fusion Maia Da Nang picked an innovative one called Exterra, a termite interception and baiting system from the United States because of its simple installation and effectiveness in quickly sweeping away the small but harmful insects.

The five-star resort and spa in the central coast city of Danang was convinced to install the termite eliminating system in July 2012 after three months taking it into consideration. In fact, the 87-room resort had worked with several companies which offered the same service, and each of them had presented different methods of killing the termites. Finally, the best solution was chosen is Exterra, a termite interception and baiting system distributed by PestMan of Vietnam Fumigation Joint Stock Company (VFC). After the time of operation, it had proved as a proper solution for sweeping away termite colonies without using toxic chemicals.

Quach Van Truong, the resort’s room division manager, said since very early, his resort carried out the task by entrusting some local contractors. Unfortunately, they failed to come up with a proper treatment. It simply sprayed chemicals on basement of the construction, and it did not work.

“After one year, we found that termites began to attack our properties, and thus we have to find an entirely new method for eliminate termites,” Truong said. With around one week to install the new system, customers can easily assess how effective it is.

“We pick Exterra system for termite prevention not only for its appropriate cost but also for its effectiveness,” said Truong. Fusion Maia Da Nang agreed to invest some VND 1 billion to install the system of stations around the resort The contract will allows PestMan to manage the system within three years, including a monthly checking service. He said PestMan stands out from other brands because it proves the effectiveness of the system to users like Fusion Maia Da Nang.Actually, the Exterra system can everlastingly protect the properties once it is installed and operated in the contraction. Besides, the yearly maintaining cost is quite low so that is appropriate investment.

For any structure development, eliminating termites is a mandatory activity, the Ministry of Construction’s standard of construction requires. However, this task is often overlooked or done for form’s sake. It is only when the operational project is attacked by termite colonies that owners begin to realize how important it is to be proactive in dealing with the insects.

Talking about the new method, Nguyen Bao Son, Deputy General Director of VFC, said Exterra is designed with stations fixed in the ground where termites are. Inside those stations are placed a composite called Focus, an innovation from the United States, and several pieces of non-toxic eucalyptus timber, which will serve as attractant to entice termites to come. The timber is from Australia artificial forests, which were planted for exploitation. With a space from four to five meters each, the stations will serve as a firm protection fence around a building.

Son said the Exterra system is different in that it does not kill termites by using different chemicals but its innovated and non-toxic bait. The solution also contributes to environment protection because of nature-original materials. It has proved effectiveness through independent tests since 2003 at laboratories and prestige universities in Singapore, the Philippines, Australia, and the United States, among others.

Up to now, this solution has been applied at big construction projects, especially high-end hotels and resorts around the countries, such as Vinpearl Resort in Nha Trang, Huong Giang Hotel in Hue City, Sealinks Villas, Victoria Resort Phan Thiet in the southern province of Binh Thuan and Reunification Palace in HCM City, to name but a few.

Before its Vietnam arrival, the new solution has been used in the United States, Australia, Thailand, Hong Kong and the Philippines, among others. Exterra, the solution distributed by PestMan of VFC, has helped keep termites at bay on some 60,000 kilometers of construction around the world.
